It’s clear shades of green are the “it color” in 2025 for kitchen cabinets (I predicted this in 2021). Warmth is the key to choosing white. Retro-inspired colors are more prevalent, and deep dark cabinets are now the norm.
But what is the top kitchen cabinet color trend in 2025 and beyond? You may be surprised to learn that hues of RED are set to dominate.
The 90’s are back my friend, plus historic colors from the 30’s and 50’s are setting stage for color trends going forward. Look for lacquered and gloss finishes on kitchen cabinets in 2025 and beyond, so even the darkest shades reflect a lot of light.

From the pale warm pink, brick red and burgundy, shades of red are the designer pick for kitchen cabinets in 2025.
The GOOD news is the days of choosing SAFE cabinet colors are OUT! I grew up in an era of home “resale” value where white and gray cabinets were preferred.
Younger homeowners sharing their homes on social media are now showing us a broader design style.
It’s filled with fun and bold kitchen cabinet choices. They are not playing it safe and expressing their own personal style.

As we usher in 2025, of course you want to know the new “it” color for kitchen cabinets. I’m warning you that it may not be one that you agree with…don’t worry I’ll give you paint color options that are easier to use.
Colors come back in fashion every 20+ years. This year we are see the return of RED or shades of red from deep ruby, cherry red, burgundy and even dusty shades of light pink.

In 2025, Behr Paint chose Rumors as their color of the year. It’s a beautiful deep red that looks beautiful with pops of white and natural wood tones. It feels fresh and modern in this kitchen design.
From bright to dark reds were all feature by Sherwin Williams as new trend colors in both 2024 and 2025.

Red is a primary color and familiar to all of us from grade school art class. BUT you won’t want to put the purest form of red on your cabinets.

2026 New Cabinet Color Predictions
What’s my prediction for the new 2026 kitchen cabinet color trend? Dusty plum, mauve and dark chocolate with deep purple undertones will be the new colors that will be popping up in traditional and modern kitchens.
Next year will be heavily influenced by the Victoria era (late 1800’s and early 1900’s). It will be interesting to see if I get it right!

Oh, the timeless allure of white cabinets! Just like a little black dress, white kitchen cabinets have a classic appeal that never goes out of style.
However, white paint colors are not PURE white and have a wide variety of undertones. The undertones of white paint colors change overtime and will eventually look dated.
That’s what happened in my kitchen…my soft white cabinetry started looking like took creamy because they had a yellow undertone. That’s why I ended up updating the cabinet paint color to a crisp bright white after living in my home 10 years.
What is changing is that ALL-WHITE kitchens as a design trend is out. Instead mixing white cabinets with natural wood tones and black is the new trend.
Are gray kitchen cabinets out?
If you’ve been wondering whether gray cabinets have fallen out of favor, let’s talk about it.
Just like white cabinets, gray cabinet paint colors shift over time too. So what I will tell you is COOL grays are now out. I predicted this in 2021.
However, gray cabinets continue to be a favorite due to their versatility. Instead look for WARM GRAY or greige as a more on trend option for your kitchen cabinets.
