15 Minute Fall French Country Table

Revealing a simple neutral fall French Country table! Use everyday items with pops of fall decor for a new look.

Looking for an easy table setting you can create this fall? Here I share a  neutral tablescape put together in 15 minutes using everyday items mixed with a few fall items.

How-to create a fall French Country table that will take you through Thanksgiving!

Layers and Textures Make a Table Setting Interesting

Do you search Pinterest for beautiful fall tablescapes like I do? I oooh and aaah at their beauty wanting to recreate the same loveliness in my own home.

Unfortunately, my dining room table is VERY narrow leaving very little room for much other than a place setting.

When entertaining and for dinner parties, I’m forced to serve plated food or buffet style it’s that narrow.

Sorry, you’ll have to get up for seconds at my house 🙂

So don’t worry if you have a small dining or kitchen table, you can still make a gorgeous tablescape by using vertical elements.

What do I mean by using vertical elements to create a tablescape?

  1. Create layered place settings with a placemat, charger, and multiple plates for extra height
  2. Use wine and water glasses for a high/low effect
  3. Place not only candlesticks to light people’s faces, but also lower votives to have light near the place settings
  4. Keep floral arrangements small and low to not interfere with the conversation, but create a softer vertical layer

How to Create a Fall French Country Table

This table can’t accommodate a large floral arrangement, so I use simple votives and a couple of floral elements instead.

It keeps the budget lower and it takes 5 minutes to set up – easy!

Don’t be scared to mix faux and real flowers either. That way you can use seasonal items that may not be readily available at the grocery store.

I love the pretty faux pomegranate stems with the fresh blue hydrangeas.

Fall French Country Tablescape Reveal

French Country decor is all about a natural easy feel like you threw it together with what you had at the moment.

It’s also about using fine items with everyday items.

This is a table I can set up in 15 minutes by using what I have and adding just a touch of fall to reflect the season.

For this table, I used my everyday buffalo check runner as the base to build from keeping it less formal not using a table cloth.

The key decor elements Fall French Country table:

  • Neutral base with woven textures
  • Cut flowers and greens
  • Pumpkins in neutral shades
  • Golden candlelight
  • Simple napkins and runner
  • Rustic homemade plates
  • Everyday glassware mixed with more formal flatware

Plus I had blue hydrangeas in another vase that I cut down to size to use as a simple floral touch.

Here is a nice view to show all of the textures on the table.

I picked up the woven texture of the sisal rug in the room by using my everyday sea grass placemats from the kitchen.

Something I always have at the ready are freshly pressed white linen napkins. They go with EVERYTHING!

The only “formal” elements in this very French Country table are the flatware pieces and the silver chargers.

It’s a very easy feel that makes people feel more comfortable.

The wine and water glasses are also my everyday glasses!

I regularly serve myself and guests using these glasses and the hobnail feels so good in your hand.

The hobnail detail of the water glass is picked up in the stacked ball stem of the wine glass relating the two.

To bring in the season, I found these amazing neutral pumpkin plates.

Then I dug into my plate stash and found the tissue paper plates I made last year.

Wow! They were exactly the right accent I needed to pull the entire table together.

The plates are SO easy to make too!

They work perfectly to pull the blue and gold in from the room.

Adding in blue hydrangeas were the perfect way to highlight the blue pumpkins.

Next, gold candle sticks and votives plus gold flatware add warmth and a glow to the overall table.

How-to Create a Pumpkin Patch Stack

To pull the pumpkin detail to the end of the room, I dug into my existing stash of pumpkins.

Incorporating glass, natural, ticking stripe, and velvet pumpkins again mix that formal and casual look of the French Country table.

Then to mimic the table decor, I used the same pomegranate stems in between to soften the edges.

To create varying heights of pumpkins is a simple trick!

Prop up pumpkins on small bread plates, glasses, or cupcake stands for varying heights.

Here is what it looks like behind the pretty pumpkin display. Easy right?

Just find different things from around your home to prop and stage.

Varying heights looks way more interesting than if all of the pumpkins were at the same height.

Adding woven pillows to the end of the room pulled together the sisal rug and sea grass chargers for a cohesive look.

Natural woven textures are at the core of the room for a fall French Country feel.

Can you believe those are indoor/outdoor pillows on the chairs next to the credenza?

They originally lived on my front porch and may make their way back out there this fall 🙂

Mick is just an added bonus accessory!

I swear he loves the camera and pops up right where my camera is pointed.

No posing required – he just owns it…
