Fall decorating doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming! Sharing my fast and easy fall decor ideas.

After being a single working mom, I KNOW how hard it is to find the time to get everything done. Especially when it is on the “nice to do” list and not “have to do”.

Fall decorating can quickly take a backseat in the list of to-dos. But it feels SO good to add those little cozy touches of fall to your home.

After many years, I’ve found fast and easy fall decorating ideas that create a big impact in very little time.

From DIY fall decor to how-to group pumpkins for the win, there is something for every area of your home!

Easy Fall Decor Ideas

Let’s walk through the fast and easy ideas that I’ll be covering by grouping them into categories.

I’ll share with you my fall decorating from around my home that spans YEARS.

My house looks different now and so do I LOL…darn I just keep getting older each year and my house keeps getting better looking.

I want to show you how easy it is to get creative with what you have. Oh and by the way, I reuse what I have to keep thing budget friendly.

First up, we will talk about using pumpkins as the MAIN staple in your fall decorating.

To say I’m a big fan of using pumpkins in an understatement…I’m obsessed!

How-to Group Pumpkins for a Fall Display

Literally, my collection of pumpkins is enviable but know I’ve collected them over many years.

From fabric, to glass, plastic and glitter I’ve got a wide variety of pumpkins to use in my fall decorating.

I’m using faux pumpkins in these ideas, but you could always use real.

Idea 1: Stack Pumpkins in a Display

This is one of my FAVORITE displays of faux pumpkins!

What makes this so special is the VARIETY of pumpkins in neutral colors that are combined together.

There are glitter pumpkins, faux white pumpkins and fabric pumpkins too!

To soften the edges, I used simple soft faux green leaves tucked in between each pumpkin. (I love to buy faux fall stems here).

Stacking and grouping pumpkins is a fast and easy way to create sophisticated fall decor.

decorator tip: using pumpkins in fall decor

Mix at least 3 colors of pumpkins in 3 different colors for visual interest.

To create various heights, use 3 different sizes of pumpkins.

To create height, place larger pumpkins on mini-cupcake stands or plastic containers and fill in the gaps with smaller pumpkins.

What you’ll notice is how I am using the same pumpkins in different displays to create new looks!

Don’t be scared to mix fabric, glass and plastic pumpkins together.

All of the different textures will make your fall decor pop!

Faux pumpkins and be used year after year and are the MOST affordable way to decorate for fall.

Idea 2: Pumpkins in Trays or Table Displays

Yes, my glass pumpkin collection is quite varied giving me options.

So I can use glass pumpkins in a variety of ways, (shop glass pumpkins here) I’ve gravitated toward mainly neutral colors clear, white and shades of gold.

Think about grouping glass pumpkins together in various colors and sizes. Or placing them into trays to define the groups.

DIY Fall Decor

Love being crafty? Why not make your own personalized fall decor?

I’ll share some simple DIY fall decor ideas and I’d say I’m NOT that crafty LOL.

Sometimes I get inspired in my fall decorating and find something I want to buy and decide I can make it more inexpensively instead!

Idea 1: Dried Wheat Decor

Dried wheat is extremely affordable way to decorate for fall.

Here’s a REALLY creative ideas for using wheat in your fall decor.

Attach to buffet lamps using pipe cleaners for a quick and easy touch of warmth.

Or another idea is to buy inexpensive rustic ribbons and simple shafts of wheat to create a beautiful display.

Simply group a large bunch of wheat together about 2 inches in diameter and wrap with fall colored ribbon.

Idea 2: Decorate Faux Pumpkins

Why not collect or buy fall leaves to decorate faux pumpkins?

It’s a FUN DIY project that once you complete you can use year after year!

If you don’t want to wait to collect real fall leaves, buy a variety pack of faux fall leaves instead.

This DIY fall decor of decoupaging fall leaves onto faux pumpkins is easy, but looks so high-end.

The best part is kids can participate collecting leaves and applying them to the pumpkins too!

Idea 3: DIY Fall Plates

Another fun project using the same method of decoupage, is to create fall tissue paper plates.

This is a really fast DIY fall decor project and you can customize the look to work with your existing decor.

Choose ANY style of fall tissue paper to create this beautiful homemade fall plate.

Just make sure to wash your newly made plates by hand to preserve their beauty.

Use Inexpensive Blanket Scarves as Fall Decor

This is one of my FAVORITE fall decor hacks! You can buy a wide variety of inexpensive blanket scarves to use in your fall decor.

Literally, I use them all around my home including on my porch to add a punch of fall color.

So you see what I mean by a blanket scarf, here’s me wearing one!

There is NO LIMIT to the variety of ways you can use blanket scarves to “spice” up for fall decor.

Most of the plaid blanket scarves I use are under $15 and I reuse the same ones in different ways each fall.

Honestly, this is the fastest and easiest DIY fall decor I can think of!

One last idea! Don’t forget about any fall dishes you may have.

Use Fall Plates in Unexpected Ways

I bought a set on clearance and not only use them on the table, but also in cabinets for a fall pop of color.

My hope is my quick and easy fall decor ideas have inspired you to try themat your house.

Toss a blanket scarf on your kitchen island and group some pumpkins. In 15 minutes, you’ll be DONE and it will feel more like fall around your home 🙂

  1. I love that you have some pink pumpkins. Pink is an important color in October (or everyday because it’s always among my favorites).
