Green Colored Kitchens: Hot NEW Design Trend

After covering the 2024 cabinet color trends and visiting the Kitchen & Bath Industry (KBIS) show in February, I can confirm GREEN is the hottest color for kitchens this year!

If you don’t know anything about KBIS, it’s the largest industry show where manufacturers launch their new products. It’s the BEST place to find the newest kitchen and bath trends (I walked 9 miles the first day!)

Back in 2021 I called out green as an emerging cabinet color trend. In 2024 green is only for kitchen cabinets, but kitchen hoods, ranges, and tile.

Stained and painted green cabinets are at the core of the latest kitchen design trends. I’ll walk you through the best green kitchens, along with some of the hot new kitchen product launches from KBIS 2024.

Green cannot be ignored as the HOT kitchen design trend in 2024. Look for green cabinets to become a staple in kitchens, along with pops of green in tiles and appliances moving forward.

Wow, so many shades of green were featured throughout the high-end custom kitchens designs!

Green kitchens were shown in a wide variety of greens from soft sage green, vibrant emerald green, to traditional hunter green. Not only was green used for cabinetry, but also featured on hoods, ranges, ceramic and marble tile.

The Kohler booth had a new take on green cabinets. Instead of a painted finish the wood was an evergreen STAIN (buy evergreen interior stain).

The fact I was able to get any images without a hand or person is pretty impressive LOL!

People were CLAMORING to video the newly launched pot filler, green fluted marble tile, and green marble backsplash. Note the rounded edge of the tile wall, also a new trend.

What makes this kitchen so interesting is that they paired the cooler stained green cabinets with warmer accents.

It felt inviting and new and I LOVED the built in dog bowl station with pot filler in the island.

When developing a new kitchen design, incorporate fluted textures and radius details to make it feel new and on trend.

On the other end were shelves for extra storage, but replicated the same look and feel as the dog station.

Green Prep Kitchen: 2nd Kitchen Trend

I was SO excited to preview Kohler x Studio McGee at KBIS. Huge girl crush over here! I met her at one of my first blogging conferences and she is just as down to earth as you would imagine.

The Kohler x Studio McGee collection combines details from the brand’s storied heritage with a fresh lens for a timeless approach. The suite of products includes full faucet collections, lighting, hardware, and vanities, as well as tile collections developed in partnership with Ann Sacks.” – Kohler Press Release

There is a new trend solidifying, which is bringing back the scullery. It’s also know as a kitchen within a kitchen emerging or the “2nd kitchen”. This little green kitchen from Studio McGee is just that.

I love how she paired the green with gold cabinet hardware, faucet, warm wood tones, and gorgeous Sea Salt green tile.

In full disclosure, I removed the light fixture that was in this image to highlight the tile. You can see gold globe wall sconce here.

Think of this as the new “butler’s pantry”, where you prep everything for a party to keep the kitchen neat and clean. (Shop the Gold Faucet) We will call it the mini-green prep kitchen.

I’ll cover more of what I saw of the Kohler X Studio McGee collection in another kitchen & bath trends post, but I had to share this BEAUTIFUL sage green cabinet color.

My best guess is she used one of Studio McGee’s favorite green paint colors: Intrigue by Benjamin Moore (buy a peel and stick sample).

It feels fresh and traditional! The perfect combination with a classic white and gray marble vein.

A Green kitchen: Not Just the Cabinet Color

I first saw a John Michael green hood featured at the Caesarstone booth. It was MASSIVE with rounded or “radius” edges in a stunning emerald green.

Paired with warm toned woods and solid surfaces, this kitchen was welcoming. The pops of gold in the hardware and backsplash veining help soften the bright emerald green hood.

After seeing this beautiful kitchen, I headed over to John Michael and was wowed by his modern hunter green kitchen featuring their new affordable Alumx Cabinetry.

Another important kitchen design trend shown throughout the 2024 KBIS green kitchens are soft rounded corners or “radius edges or corners”. Radius edges are being used on hoods, cabinets, fluted tile, edging, hoods and even on corners of shelving and walls.

Radius corners are used to soften the edges of walls, solid surfaces, hoods and cabinets. Love the green cabinets? A close paint color match: Enchanted Forest by Benjamin Moore (buy peel and stick sample).

Again you see green paired with gold and warm wood tones. It can’t be denied that this combination is now the “gold standard” in kitchen design.

Here’s one more kitchen with flat panel cabinets in a soft blue green. Yep, it’s mixed with warm woods as well. Sorry, I didn’t catch the brand on this one!

Love the blue green cabinet color with gray undertones? Try Quietude by Sherwin Williams (buy peel and stick sample).

Isn’t it FUN to experience what I did and see all of the fun new green kitchens featured? There are so many pieces of inspiration for your own upcoming kitchen design.
