Did you know there is a National Rosé Wine Day? Mark your calendars the 2nd Saturday of every June!
Yes! Tomorrow is National Rosé Day. To celebrate, I thought I’d take my FAVORITE Rosé wine called Notorious Pink and craft a summer cocktail to mark the occasion. This is my go to summer wine and honestly I haven’t met many Rosé wines that beat this one.
It is absolutely the perfect light and refreshing wine, without any sour after taste. The winery describes it much better than I could ever:
“Our rosé is pale pink in color that exudes floral orange blossom aromas. Made from 100% Grenache from the South of France, we use mature berries to balance the flavors of ripe berries that gives it a wonderful acidity and soft minerality.”

Lemon Ice Rosé Wine Float (Rosé Floaté)
As I stared at what was in my refrigerator and freezer, I came up with a fun idea! One of my son’s favorite things to have for desert is Lindy’s Lemon Italian Ice. What if I used that to make a float with Rosé wine?
This would be the wine version of a root beer float. Nice right? I wanted to see how mixing a lemon ice with Notorious Pink wine would taste. OH BOY! It’s amazing.
I literally finished taking the pictures for this post and hunted down my friend/neighbor George to validate my “this is so amazing!” opinion. The verdict? “Wow, that is SO good and refreshing! Delicious. It’s perfect for a hot summer day.” BINGO.
Pin It for Later!
Because it is such a pretty drink and pink it would be a wonderful cocktail for a baby or wedding shower. It’s cold doesn’t have too much alcohol, so perfect for a summer party.
Naming this icy concoction has been fun, but frankly in my home (my son’s creativity) we’ve fondly named it the Rosé Floaté. It’s a little French and Italian mixed for fun!
In just 2 minutes (yes just 2), you can craft this refreshing wine float for you and your guests!
Ingredients
- Rose Wine – recommending Notorious Pink
- Lindy’s Lemon Italian Ice or similar
- Lemon Slices
Using a glass that is like the one I shared (linked above) worked perfectly because the ice fit in the top half perfectly. So look for a mid-sized glass with a narrow bottom and wider top – think ice cream sunday or a parfait type glass.
Step 1
Take the Italian Ice out of the freezer and let sit to warm up a bit. Slice lemons about 1/8 inch thick keeping them as circles.
Step 2
Open the bottle of wine and pour it into the glass filling half way. Take a little sip of wine because that was hard work 😉
Step 3
Open the Italian Ice and squeeze from the bottom to push the ice up and out of the container. Keep it right side up (like it sits in the container) and place the Italian Ice into the glass on top of the Rosé wine. I think it’s time for another sip of wine – don’t you?
Oh darn just pour yourself a whole glass because I’m sure you are sweating by now!
Step 4
Gently place one lemon slice on top of the Italian Ice. Not only does it look pretty, but that lemon slice serves a purpose to hold the Italian Ice in place while you drink it! Plus it makes the drink so pretty to have the three layers of colors: yellow, white, and pink.
Step 5
Serve and/or drink! As the ice melts it chills the wine further and just keeps making it more delicious. It’s easy to top off the wine. I’d say you can get two glasses from one container of Italian Ice.
Cheers to National Rosé Day! I hope you enjoy a cold glass to celebrate. If you try this float, please tell me what you think! I’m staring down at one right now 🙂
Until next time…
