This is our hangout time together. We are sitting on the porch like old friends talking. Get comfy on my big couch, sip a beverage of your choice. Let’s chat about things that make life better!

After traveling recently, I realized I rarely sleep well in a hotel bed. Then woke up in my own bed and didn’t want to get out of it because it’s SO comfortable 🙂 We all have our sleep preferences, but I thought I’d share my favorite products I’ve found for my bedroom that may help you too!
It may not be obvious to you, but light from your clock may be bothering you more than you know!
Everything wakes me up light and sound, so I need a DARK and quiet room. In hotel rooms, I prop pillows or hang towels in front of clocks, microwaves, and anything emitting light – even my laptop charger. I guess an eye mask could work, but they just are not comfortable to me. It’s proven that light interrupts you REM sleep and my eyelids must me thin 🙂
This clock is the best not only because it is visually appealing, but it serves so many functions! The reason I am recommending it is because you can tap the snooze bar and the clock goes completely dark. No blue light to disturb your REM sleep! Plus it charges your iPhone and a 2nd device and can play the radio or music from your phone. Genius!
Purify the Air with White Noise
After working with someone who sold these air purifiers and touted the benefits, I decided to buy one. The truth is I am a long time allergy sufferer and wanted help on that front. What I didn’t expect is getting a better night of sleep!
This purifier helps limit my nighttime stuffy nose AND provides the most soothing white noise! It’s helped me sleep so much better and now I don’t hear car doors slam or dogs barking at night – ahhhh. Plus it is slim and tucks away nicely in a corner of the room.
Ah the foam mattress topper! Guests who sleep on the bed in my guest room always say how comfortable it is and the secret is the memory foam topper! Frankly, it’s a rock hard old mattress but with a foam topper it is the perfect combination of comfort.
Of course I have one in my room and really notice how much it helps me when I am in a hotel bed. Memory foam eliminates pressure points at your hips and knees plus cradles your back.
You wake up with fewer aches and pains! In a hotel bed, I end up tossing and turning due to hip pain and at home never have it. Quality is important in the type of memory foam – I asked a chiropractor. Look for 4 lbs. density or higher for the correct support.
Then top that memory foam topper with a comfy mattress pad. This I just purchased and it’s great because of the nice padding, high quality, fits completely over the foam topper/mattress/box spring and has a nice price too!
Having a textile degree I know a thing or two about fibers, yarns, and thread counts. I was so excited to find sheets that are soft, don’t pill, and wrinkle free! Yes, you can have it all! They feel so soft on your skin and wash well. I have two sets of sheets and notice the difference when these are on the bed. You WON’T believe the price…under $30 for a Queen Set!
I’ll link two because the Wayfair is out of stock right now, but Joss & Main is in stock – they are the same sheets. For Joss & Main they want you to provide your email for an account and the prices can be better 🙂
Light Blocking and Comfortable Headboard
My bed sits between two windows and that wall faces East. So when the sun comes up it is right in my windows! Recently I updated my headboard to a winged back version and those little wings block so much light. Plus I just think it is pretty 🙂
When you are sitting in bed, it is nice to have the upholstered back and I like it so much better than my previous wood headboard.
